Sixth Form Curriculum Offer / External Accreditation

 

Curriculum

 

The curriculum has been designed as preparation for life activities with an emphasis on the provision of appropriate enrichment opportunities.

There is a focus on developing students' Spiritual, Moral, Cultural & Social Development as well as an emphasis on the Promotion of British Values.

 

Post 16 students follow one of two pathways;

The Independence Plus Pathway or the Encounter and Independence Pathway.

 

The Independence Plus Pathway

For students who are likely to go on to a further education course or seek employment.

Opportunities exist for students to access a Link Course at East Kent College (formerly Thanet College) and Thanet Skills Studio.

 

The Encounter and Independence Pathway

For students who benefit from a Sensory based curriculum and also require essential programmes including, for example, Physiotherapy, Communication and Self-Care.

 

Some students may follow a mixture of timetables and modules according to individual requirements.

External Accreditation

Accredited programmes provide opportunities for students to progress within Foundation Learning (Entry 1 to Level 1) of the National Qualifications Framework and achieve nationally recognised qualifications.

 

Post 16  Personal Progress - Entry Level 1 

This programme allows flexible modules and programmes to be delivered according to individual students' needs whilst simultaneously allowing students to accrue credits towards nationally recognised qualifications including Awards, Certificates and Diplomas.
