Key Stage 3 - Curriculum

 

In KS3 all students are placed in tutor groups with students of similar abilities. All classes broadly follow programmes based on the National Curriculum.

 

The statutory requirements at Key Stage 3 are:

English

Mathematics  

Science  

Art & Design

Citizenship  

Computing  

Design & Technology

Modern Foreign Language

Geography  

History  

Music

Physical Education

Religious Education

Sex and Relationship Education (SRE)

 

Students in Years 7, 8 and 9 remain in their tutor class base for the majority of their learning. They continue to learn through the thematic approach used in the Primary phase. SRE is included within the PSHE & Citizenship curriculum.

 

One Key Stage 3 class is based off-site at our Inclusion class at Hartsdown Academy for two days each week. During this time they all have the opportunity to attend mainstream lessons with support. Any students identified as having a particular talent in a subject area will have the opportunity to attend lessons with their mainstream peers.
