Sickness and Diarrhoea

Some of our pupils have become unwell over the past week with sickness and diarrhoea bugs. Within school we have addressed this through ensuring good hygiene at all times. We have also had areas deep cleaned in order to avoid a spread of the infection.

We have been in discussion with Public Health England who have stated that handwashing is one of the most important ways of controlling diarrhoea and vomiting infections.

The recommended method of handwashing and controlling the spread of infection is:

  • The use of liquid soap, not alcohol wipes, warm water and paper towels.
  • Always wash hands after using the toilet, before eating or handling food, and after handling animals.
  • Cover all cuts and abrasions with waterproof dressings.

Please remember that any child should not return to school for 48 hours from the last episode of diarrhoea or sickness.
