Unicef Rights Respecting School

We joined together with a group of other local schools to begin the journey of becoming a Unicef Rights Respecting School.

The Unicef UK Rights Respecting School Award (RRSA) is based on principles of equality, dignity, respect, non-discrimination and participation. The RRSA seeks to put the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child at the heart of a school’s ethos and culture to improve well-being and develop every child’s talents and abilities to their full potential. A Rights Respecting School is a community where children’s rights are learned, taught, practised, respected, protected and promoted. Young people and the school community learn about children’s rights by putting them into practice every day. We feel very strongly that this award fits in with the values and ethos of Foreland Fields School.

We are proud to announce that we achieved the Level 1 Rights Respecting School Award in May 2017. We will soon be starting our journey towards the Level 2 Award.

We need to ensure our steering group has representatives from all those involved in the school and welcome input from parents.

If you are interested in supporting us in this venture please get in touch.
