  • Parent/Carer Survey 2025

    The 2025 Parent/Carer survey is now live. We ask that parents/carers take the time to complete this online survey as it helps us to evaluate provision and, where necessary, make improvements. The closing date for completing the survey is 3pm on Friday 7th February 2025.   • Child Benefit - Changes

    Don’t miss out on up to £1,331 a year in Child Benefit. Are you a parent or carer who doesn’t claim Child Benefit, or has opted out of payments because of the High Income Child Benefit Charge? We wanted to let you know that the amount you can earn before you need to start paying the charge has increased from £50,000 to £60,000. If you and your partner both have an adjusted net income of less than £60,000, you no longer have to pay the charge.

  • Royal Academy of Arts Young Artists’ Summer Show 2025

    Once again, the school will be getting involved in this year’s Royal Academy’s Young Artist Summer Show competition. This is an exciting opportunity for pupils and students aged 4 – 18 to exhibit their artwork on site or online at the Royal Academy of Arts. For more information visit: youngartists.royalacademy.org.uk/ There are no restrictions on what the children can make. Artworks can be made of any materials and might include painting, sculpture, photography, installation, print, textile, fashion, animation or a video.

  • Kent Youth County Council Elections

    Every year Kent County Council holds an election for representatives for the Kent Youth County Council. Sixty young people from the county are elected to represent the views and issues of Kent's youth and campaign on the top 3 issues for young people. This year, Joshua and Aalivia in Helen’s class campaigned across the school to become members for the Thanet region. The school was opened as a polling station and secondary students (aged 11-19) casted their votes by marking an X on a ballot paper.

  • Inclusion Quality Mark

    Last Thursday we received confirmation that we have retained our Centre of Excellence status for the Inclusion Quality Mark. Within the positive report, it states ‘Foreland Fields is an extremely special place. The school demonstrates an unwavering commitment to meeting the unique needs of every child, going above and beyond to support each student and their family’. The assessor stated that she was ‘firmly of the opinion’ that the school ‘fully meets the standard required by the Inclusion Quality Mark to maintain its status as a Centre of Excellence’.

  • Special School Advisory Committee

    Dear parents/carers, We have been informed of a new initiative, the “Special School Parent Advisory Committee” being established by KCC, in partnership with Kent PACT. The aim of the committee is to enhance special school parent engagement in the strategic long-term planning of special school places across Kent. This builds on the feedback received during the recent consultation, where parents expressed appreciation for the direct dialogue with local authority officers, and asked for this to be established long term. We have been asked to nominate 1-2 parents to represent the school on this new advisory committee.
