Kent Youth County Council Elections

5th Dec 2024

Every year Kent County Council holds an election for representatives for the Kent Youth County Council. Sixty young people from the county are elected to represent the views and issues of Kent's youth and campaign on the top 3 issues for young people.

This year, Joshua and Aalivia in Helen’s class campaigned across the school to become members for the Thanet region.

The school was opened as a polling station and secondary students (aged 11-19) casted their votes by marking an X on a ballot paper.

Their campaign evidently worked because the results came in today, and I am delighted to inform you that both Joshua and Aalivia gained enough votes to become members of the KYCC.

They will meet once per month at County Hall, Maidstone, along with other youth members from different areas in Kent.

Both Josh and Aalivia will represent and act upon the views, issues and opinions of the young people in Kent.

What an amazing opportunity to effect real change.

Well done Josh and Aalivia we are all so very proud of you!
